Opus 9 Contrapunto
The idea behind this painting is contrast, but also harmony. The use of the colour indigo for the figures is a reference to Indian miniatures and also the fascinating history of the origin of this colour. Indigo was originally obtained from plants, and centuries ago it was one of the most important colours in the world. It helped imperial India economically, yet later played a part in the destabilisation of that country.
