My paintings since 2009 have been inspired by the miniatures, texts and musical scores found in the Libro de la Música, which contains the Cantigas de Santa Maria. These already ancient cantigas were recorded for posterity by Alphonso X and his court in the 12th century, immortalizing the songs and poems sung by troubadours and pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago.
Above: Sculpture-painting No.7 'Las Cantigas de Santa Maria', painted on a 9 metre roll of Arches 300g Rough watercolour paper, 2012. The finished dimensions after the folds and flute shapes were formed are: 2.5 m long by 1.2 m high. Displayed at the British Council, C/Amigó, Barcelona in 2012.
